Dept. of Justice Announces Eagle Feather Policy

On Friday, the Dept. of Justice announced  a new policy on tribal members use of eagle feathers.  The policy comes after a year of consultations with tribal leaders.  Department officials claim that it clarifies procedure for law enforcement officials while reassuring tribal members that they do not have to fear prosecution for possessing or using eagle feathers for religious and cultural purposes.  Learn more at the related Indian Country Today article or view the policy and fact sheet at the Department of Justice website.
